Kindergarten - Second Grade
Food - World's Fair introduced us to some memorable food - it was hard to choose but we decided on banana splits! Yummy!
Kazoos - Kazoo bands flourished at the turn-of-the-century. Students will make a kazoo, learn to play it, and take it with them..
Games of the 1900's - Victorian parlor games
Dancing - Students will attempt to learn to dance 1900's style or some variation there of - the Grizzley Bear, Bunny hug, turkey trot, Jitterbug or Foxtrot anyone?.
Laundry - what is LHD without a laundry station? Students will learn how laundry was washed, rinsed, and hung to dry.
Lesson in Manners/School- students will learn about manners in a oneroom school house.
Lawn Tennis - Badminton anyone? Played primarily by the rich, but we can pretend right?
Croquet - or a slightly modified version of the younger set....
Bubbles - Victorian children spent hours playing with bubbles.
Magic Show - A trick will be demonstrated and then taught to the students to perform at home.
Cats Cradle - one of the earliest games to amuse children - each student will make his or her own yarn cat's cradle, and then learn the steps of the game.
Pressed Flower project- Victorian's decorated EVERYTHING with pressed flowers. Students will make a card decorated with pressed flowers.
Storytime - What did children do before TV? READ> Students will be read a period appropriate story.
